Tour Salar -Tunupa Volcano - Lagoons (4 Days / Night)

Enjoy of the landscape that invite you to join them and live an unforgettable experience visiting the salt flats, lagoons addition Tunupa Volcano.

1th DAY

 

The Train graveyard is the first attractive, where you will see  locomotives from XIX century, after 30 minutes you’ll visit  Colchani, where you are going to see the rustic salt factories, if you want to buy handicrafts made of salt or textiles made of lama woolen, it is a good place where you could choose one, then get ready to see the wonderful Salar de Uyuni that has more than 10.000 square kilometers, into the salar you will visit the piles of salt (small pyramids that local people do to dry and then process the salt) next, you will see the  Ojos del Salar  (natural conduits that ends in holes through which circulate salt water) then, you will visit   the first and only salt hotel into the salar (museum). After this you will go straight ahead to Coquesa a small town located at the foot of Tunupa Volcano  where you spend the night.

 

2nd DAY

 

This day begins at 07:00 a.m. after breakfast you have to pass the registration office, afterwards you are going to stay in the Volcano’s viewpoint (4.200 meters above sea level) where you will see the mums, dating from Pre Inka period, this is a cemetery that shows how our ancestors buried their dead (there is a local guide who will explain you in more detail about mummies). From here you can admire the beauty and vastness of a wonderful white desert, islands and surrounding mountains.

 

If you want to climb to the top of the Volcano (5.435 meters above sea level) you should leave earlier, it will take approximately 4 hours climbing up and 2 hours climb down.

 

Returning to your lodge, you will have lunch.

 

Later you will stay in the Isla Incawasi (Incawasi Island) where you are going to see giant cactus, rock formations of petrified coral, definitely you will have photographs with perspective in the middle of the salar and finally arrive to San Juan.

 

3th DAY

 

The tour starts at 08:00 a.m. after your breakfast you will enjoy visiting the viewpoint of Ollague Volcano (5.865 meters above sea level), where you can see the smoke emanating from the active volcano, afterwards you will take pictures of the first flamingos en the lagoons Cañapa and Hedionda, , Chiarcota y Laguna Ramaditas, which are used by flamingoes as point of feeding and resting during their migratory movements, after this you will pass through the Siloli Desert where is the Árbol de Piedra (Stone tree), the evolution and form are due to wind erosion of time, finally get ready to see the Laguna Colorada named for the reddish color of its waters and is the gateway to the  Reserva Eduardo Abaroa (National Park). You will spend the night in Huayllajara.  

 

4th DAY

 

Get ready to a long day, the tour starts early at 05:00 a.m. should be with warm clothes, you will begin with a visit to the  Geisers, (4.950 meters above sea level) where you can see volcanic activity, fumaroles emanating toxic gas,  where the volcanic lava is boiling with strong smell of sulfur, then you can enjoy a hot bath in the natural hot springs (280C to 300C), where breakfast will be served, you will passed the Dali Desert where you will admire the rock formations, afterwards you will continue visiting Laguna Blanca and Laguna Verde  located at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano (5.930 meters above sea level), if you like to finish the tour in San Pedro (Chile) the car will go to the border Bolivia-Chile (optional transfer to San Pedro de Atacama at 10:00 a.m.). On the way back to Uyuni you will enjoy the landscape of the Valley of Rocks where there are huge and giant boulders of reddish and polished by nature and wind erosion, finally visit the town of San Cristobal.

 

You will arrive to Uyuni at around 17:30.
