Tour Licancabur volcano (4 Days / 3 Nights)

If you are looking for adventure visiting the largest salt flat in the world and test your fitness, climbing the Licancabur Volcano (5.930 meters above sea level), this is your tour.

1th DAY


The tour starts visiting the Train graveyard where you will see the first locomotives from XIX century, after 30 minutes you’ll visit  Colchani, where you are going to see the rustic salt factories, if you want to buy a handicraft made of salt or textiles made of llama woolen, it is a good place where you could choose one, then get ready to see the wonderful Salar de Uyuni that has more than 10.000 square kilometers, into the salar you will visit the piles of salt (small pyramids that local people do to dry and then process the salt) next, you will see the  Ojos del Salar  (natural conduits that ends in holes through which circulate salt water) then, you will visit   the first and only salt hotel into the salar (museum). After this you will go straight ahead to the Isla Incawasi (Incawasi Island) where you are going to trek and see giant cactus,  rock formations of petrified coral and returning you will taste your lunch, continuing your journey you will enjoy the landscape in the middle of the salar and of course photographs taken with perspective, finally you will spend your night in San Juan a small town.


2nd DAY


The tour starts at 08:00 a.m. after your breakfast you will enjoy visiting the viewpoint of Ollague Volcano (5.865 meters above sea level), where you can see the smoke emanating from the active volcano, afterwards you will take pictures of the first flamingos en the lagoons Cañapa and Hedionda, , Chiarcota y Laguna Ramaditas, which are used by flamingoes as point of feeding and resting during their migratory movements, after this you will pass through the Siloli Desert where is the Árbol de Piedra (Stone tree), the evolution and form are due to wind erosion of time, finally get ready to see the Laguna Colorada named for the reddish color of its waters and is the gateway to the  Reserva Eduardo Abaroa (National Park)  you will continue with a visit to the  Geisers, (4.950 meters above sea level) where you can see volcanic activity, fumaroles emanating toxic gas,  where the volcanic lava is boiling with strong smell of sulfur, then you can enjoy a hot bath in the natural hot springs (280C to 300C), where breakfast will be served, you will passed the Dali Desert where you will admire the rock formations, afterwards you will continue visiting Laguna Blanca and Laguna Verde  located at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano (5.930 meters above sea level).


You will spend the night near to Laguna Verde.  


3th DAY


Departs at 04:00 transportation to the foot of the Volcano to begin climbing (7 hours uphill and 4 hours downhill  approximately).


From the top you can enjoy a fantastic view of Salar de Atacama (Chile) and volcanoes around, in foreground red cone and crater Juripes, and more away the Lascar with fumaroles. The summit Lincancabur is on the northeastern edge of the crater inside houses a beautiful little lagoon partially glaciated, one of the highest in the land, you can also see the remains of dwellings and structures used by the Incas pilgrims to protect themselves and some leftover firewood transported to there as offerings.

Overnight at Laguna Colorada.




On the way back to Uyuni visit Italy Lost, Valle de Rocas where there are huge rocks and giant boulders each other some reddish and polished by nature and wind erosion,  then you will stop in San Cristobal and finally Uyuni at  16:30 hours.
