Tour Tunupa Volcano (2 Days / 1 Night)

The Tunupa Volcano is visited by people who love and admire the vast and impressive nature of the white desert.


If you want to stay more time visiting the salar de Uyuni or climbing the Tunupa volcano (5.435 meters above sea level) and take beautiful photographs from the viewpoint, you could choose this tour.

1th DAY


Initially we are going to stop is in the Train graveyard where you will see the first locomotives from XIX century, after 30 minutes you’ll visit  Colchani, where you are going to see the rustic salt factories, if you want to buy a handicraft made of salt or textiles made of lama woolen, it is a good place where you could choose one, then get ready to see the wonderful Salar de Uyuni that has more than 10.000 square kilometers, into the salar you will visit the piles of salt (small pyramids that local people do to dry and then process the salt) next, you will see the  Ojos del Salar  (natural conduits that ends in holes through which circulate salt water) then, you will visit   the first and only salt hotel into the salar (museum). After this you will go straight ahead to the Isla Incawasi (Incawasi Island) where you are going to take photographs of the giant cactus,  rock formations of petrified coral,  and in this place taste a delicious lunch, followed by this, you will arrive to  Coquesa a small town located at the foot of Tunupa Volcano  where you spend the night.


2nd DAY


This day begins at 07:00 a.m. after breakfast you have to pass the registration office, afterwards you are going to stay in the Volcano’s viewpoint (4.200 meters above sea level) where you will see the mums, dating from Pre Inka period, this is a cemetery that shows you how our ancestors buried their dead (there is a local guide who will explain in more detail about mummies). From here you can admire the beauty and vastness of a wonderful white desert, islands and surrounding mountains.


If you want to climb to the top of the Volcano (5.435 meters above sea level) you should leave earlier, it will take approximately 4 hours climbing up and 2 hours climbing down.


Back at the lodge, you will enjoy your lunch.


Returning to Uyuni you will enjoy the landscape in the middle of the salar and of course photographs taken with perspective.
